Shiloh Ushers’ Ministry
“For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness”. Psalm 84:10
Our goal is to help make the services a success by putting the congregation in the right frame of mind to receive the message and to see that order is kept in and around the church at all times during the services. We are doorkeepers in the house of God.
Adult Ushers Ministry:
The Adult Ushers’ Ministry consists of approximately thirty active members and five honorary members. Members are trained to use the “Usher’s Signal Code” which is signs and signals used as a means of silent and distant communication that will not attract undue attention. Ushers greet the people with a warm welcome and direct them to comfortable seats. Ushers also see that the church program, collection envelopes, fans, and any other things for the congregation are distributed, help lift the offering, and are doorkeepers at all times during the services. Ushers serve at all functions at the church including special programs, funerals, and when requested. The Adult Ministry meets every first and third Monday at 7:00 PM in the sanctuary for workshop. Monthly business meetings are held every third Thursday (meeting places are announced prior).
Youth Ushers’ Ministry:
The Youth Ushers’ Ministry consists of approximately 15 active members. Members are between the ages of six and nineteen and under the direct supervision of Patricia Taylor. Members are trained to use the “Ushers’ Signal Code” and perform the same duties as the adult ushers. The Youth Ministry serves on the second and fourth Sunday, under the direction of the supervisor or coordinators. Youth Church held on fourth Sunday during Chapel service, are served by members’13yrs. and older under direction of the supervisor.
