Shiloh Baptist Church’s Mission Statement

Renewing the Inner Man, Rescuing the Sinner Man,

Restoring the Outer Man and Reverencing the Son of Man.

(Ephesians 2:10)

****Mission Statement Defined***

"Renewing the Inner Man" intentionally focuses on the growth and maturity of members.  I believe that we must define what responsible members means.  Responsible membership must involve a commitment to the following areas:

Ø   Regular worship attendance

Ø   A personal prayer and devotional life

Ø   Growth through Christian education or small groups

Ø   Tithing

Ø   Mission Involvement

While we should not check income tax returns to verify tithing, we should establish criteria that would indicate in measurable terms each of the above items so we can evaluate ourselves against this part of our mission.

We also intentionally share the love of Christ with joy, inspired by the Holy Spirit.  We must have a contagious atmosphere of joy and love inspired by the Holy Spirit in our congregation.  We should focus on relationships, and specifically, our relationship with Jesus Christ, manifested to each believer.  We must not allow issues to break relationships.  If a conflict occurs, we should face the conflict, bur our attitude should always favor the side of love and grace. (Matthew 28:20; Ephesians 3:14-16).

"...Rescuing the Sinner Man" intentionally focuses on the non-churched.  As we seek continuous growth in attendance and membership, we intentionally seek growth in the number of members who come from a non-churched background.  More than 60% of our new members should be from a non-churched background. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 1:8)

"...Restoring the Outer Man" intentionally focuses on ministering to those in our community.  Our outreach must always show the love of Christ.  We must minister to other socially, politically, psychologically, economically, and spiritually. (Luke 10:29-37)

"...Reverencing the Son of Man" intentionally focuses on our primary reason for existence: to give glory, praise and honor to God and His Son Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.  All that we do should have this purpose in mind. (John 4:23-24; 1 Corinthians 10:31)
