Edward Eugene Edwards was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut in the year 1972. Approximately ten months after his birth, his mother moved him and his two older brothers to Washington, North Carolina. Two years afterward, they moved to Toledo, Ohio. When Eugene was four years old, his mother (Barbara Ann Edwards) married Ben Wyatt. During this period of Eugene*s life, he learned valuable principals that would be useful in his years to come. When he was 9 years old, his mother divorced Ben Wyatt and moved to her home town of Jersey City, NJ. This is where Eugene spent most of his childhood. Eugene was a bright child with lots of energy. Unfortunately he learned to use his talent and energy on criminal activity. Fortunately , when he reached High School, the Lord blessed him with a group of caring Christian Teachers that nurtured him as their own son. They helped him channel his energy and talent into computers and accounting. By his senior year in High School, he was working at the Bank of Tokyo in the comptrollers department. Some of his responsibilities included the research and presentation of the company's profit and losses; account clearing and balancing; general ledger input and posting. This company awarded Eugene with a four year scholarship to Jersey City State College. After one semester, Eugene dropped out of school and began a downward spiral toward self destruction. During this period, he fathered a child with his pastor's daughter but had no desire to get married. He tried his hand in business promoting comedy shows, parties, strip shows, and music artist promotion; however nothing that he did would prosper. At the age of 21 he left Jersey city and moved to Charleston, West Virginia to live with his uncle. One month later, his uncle was in a serious car accident that left him paralyzed from his chest down. His uncle could no longer keep the apartment, so Eugene moved in with a new friend. He and his new friend were involved in armed robbery and drug trafficking. After a series of dangerous events, Eugene had to leave West Virginia and move to Columbus, Ohio. This is where he turned his life over to Christ. On January 1, 1997, Eugene was called to the ministry. The Lord spoke to him in a commanding voice that could not be denied. Four months after being called, he met Cassandra Monique Daniels. The two didn't realize that they were attending the same Church. The two fell in love and were married in July of the same year. Two weeks after being married, Eugene enlisted in the United States Navy. During basic training, he served as both the Assistant Recruit Chief Petty Officer and the Religious Petty Officer. Though he liked what he was doing, he felt the pull of God's call on his life. After basic training he submitted a request for discharge in order to pursue the ministry. His wife was nervous but supportive. While the request was in route, he and his wife joined the Shiloh Baptist Church of Waukegan, IL under the Pastorship of Walstone E. Francis. In January 1999, he was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. In February of the same year, he preached his trial sermon and was licensed to preach. Since his arrival at the Shiloh Church, he has worked with the children and youth ministry in an attempt to save children from the path that he chose as a youth. He now works as a Crisis Interventionist for children with behavior and emotional disorders in the Waukegan Public Schools. He also serves as Youth Pastor of a newly organized youth worship
service at the Shiloh Baptist Church as well as director for the Junior Varsity AWANA Club. |
